These images were taken by activist group Farmwatch following a tip-off from an industry insider.
The owner of these dogs was Phil Green, who at the time was the Chairman of the Greyhound Racing New Zealand Animal Welfare Committee, President of the Auckland greyhound racing club, and was also a board member of the Greyhounds As Pets trust.

When shown these images General Manager for GRNZ Jim Leach said on camera, that the perpetrator would "need to look for a new career". A month later a media release from GRNZ said :

Mr Leach thanked Phil Green for his contribution to the sport. “Phil is passionate about this sport. He has been a tireless advocate for dogs. Thankfully, Phil isn’t leaving the sport that has become his life - he still has much to gain and give,” Mr Leach said.

In other words Mr Green continues to exploit greyhounds for money,
and the industry has closed ranks to protect him.

Wheres the respect? Do they really love their dogs? Really?

We are thankful to the journalists at 3rd Degree who helped us expose this scandal, and Farmwatch activists.
